1. Your Story – Your Journey!

I was born and raised in Vilnius in the Baroque-style environment of the downtown area of the capital of Lithuania under Soviet occupation.
My youth was contrasted with a mixture of clandestine activities, deprivation, restrictions on liberty, or the desire to know. So now I appreciate the sweetness of freedom every day.
I graduated from the Academy of Arts and Design in Vilnius. At that time, the design was totally under reconstruction in independent Lithuania, fuelled by art and innovation from the Western world.
My personal culture is Lithuanian (Baltic) with a great Slavic influence. 20 years ago, I left my country to travel the world. My style is now influenced by my stays in Norway, Italy, England, and France.

In 2013, I created the interior design firm “In Place” in Nice with the idea of mixing Baltic mastery of materials, Norwegian pragmatism, and French elegance

2. What prompted you to choose design?

I love to create since my early childhood. The art schools for young people, through painting, taught me certain independence. From a very young age, I expressed to my parents my desire to modify the interior of our home.
I think the words of interior design pioneer Elsie de Wolfe will best describe how I feel about the design: “I’m going to make everything around me beautiful – this will be my life.” It is also my philosophy.
Today, for me, the most interesting challenge is to arrange the spaces in such a way as to achieve balance, proportion, and harmony.
In-Place offers a project service from A to Z. This requires not only precision and analysis, but also creativity: after preparing and coordinating the plans with the client, the creative work begins, which can be likened to an artist’s painting – textures, color palette, mid-tones, strokes, depths, directions are important to an interior designer. The interior must be aesthetically beautiful, all the solutions – practical and functional and the materials – durable, at the service of the person and meeting their objective. All the steps have real importance because they create an overall and fluid harmony

3. What is your favorite style contemporary, vintage, or any other?

I cannot choose the preferred style. Each style has its history, influence, role, and charm.
It’s like a bouquet of flowers. If it is well assembled, tastefully matched, proportionately, and colorful, it becomes beautiful and delicious. And if you look at each flower separately, it is unique.

4. Your Perception of Luxury!

For me, luxury means living in a state of comfort and convenience. It must be warm, welcoming, and unique in its characteristics – and at the same time invoke an emotion of extreme well-being.
Luxury interiors should give an instant sense of relaxation when you walk into the room.
Constantly perfecting interior design means creating a space that is well designed but not ostentatious. It’s an art to use only the essentials despite a heavy budget.
In the design of luxury interiors, for me, the main thing is the choice of colors, textures, and materials which must be welcoming and extraordinary. My intention is to give character and personality to space and to convey a feeling of scarcity without appearing pretentious.

5. What motivates you?

The creative process motivates me and gives me almost childish joy. I sink into a form of forgetting trance and maybe that’s why my son learned to bake on his own, being too absorbed in my passion.

6. What are your passions besides interior design?

Travel!
It is my source of energy, good humor, and inspiration. Currently, to compensate for the frustrations related to covid, I have instituted a daily routine of sunrises, walks in nature, and on the Promenade des Anglais. Whenever I can, I hike in the mountains, I paddle on the water or I do any other activity that our beautiful region allows. I feel infinitely happy and blessed to live here.
Ah…and my favorite moment…a glass of red wine with my friends to chat, laugh and enjoy every moment.
