Alissa Carlson passed out during a live news broadcast, and the horrific incident went viral.
Alissa Carlson is a meteorologist located in Los Angeles. She recently started a rigorous weight loss journey as a health coach.
Alissa Carlson lost consciousness as she prepared to make her morning weather report for CBS L.A.’s KCAL during a harrowing scene captured on camera. On March 18, the incident soon went viral as followers awaited word on Alissa’s status. It took many hours before CBS Los Angeles Vice President and News Director Mike Dello Stritto provided an update, reporting Alissa was being treated at a nearby hospital.
The live feed began with KCAL news anchors Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim lamenting the wet weather in Los Angeles and wishing for clear skies. The event happened just as they were about to end the lead-in and hand over the segment to Alissa. Alissa’s eyes rolled back as she slumped down onto the desk and eventually slid to the floor. As the feed switched away to a March Madness teaser, Nichelle and Rachel looked stunned and perplexed.
Alissa came to Facebook hours after the tragedy to provide the first update on her condition, which was favorable. “Thank you for all the texts, calls, and well wishes,” she wrote in extra-large print. “I’m going to be OK!”
Stritto issued a statement to TMZ shortly after the Facebook message. “This morning, our colleague Alissa Carlson felt ill during our 7 a.m. newscast. I’d like to thank her coworkers for acting quickly to console Alissa and dial 911. Alissa is currently being treated in the hospital. “Hopefully, we’ll find out more soon,” he remarked. “In the meantime, Alissa will be in our thoughts, and we hope she feels much better soon.”
According to TMZ, Alissa had a health crisis during another live broadcast while working at a different TV station in 2014. The meteorologist experienced severe nausea and vomited in the air. She was diagnosed with a leaking heart valve as a result.
