December, that warm time of the year filled with the smell of gingerbread lattes, gluhwein and the sound of a crackling fire. Rewind please, which year are we talking about here! It’s not 2020, this year December is going to be a different affair.
With most of the world still in or coming out of lockdown, even the mere possibility of celebrating the holidays with family and friends remains uncertain. Monaco is no different, although the lockdown didn’t come and there are less restrictions, I won’t be dipping my bread in any cheese fondue this year on the traditional Christmas market. The lights are up, the trees are up but there is just a little less magic this year making the end of 2020 a little sad but perhaps we can be hopeful for 2021.
But rather than ending this year on a negative note, let’s be grateful for the fact that we have family to celebrate with, that we have friends to FaceTime with and that, come New Year’s Eve we will be receiving endless Happy New Year messages. Life is just a little more virtual at the moment but that doesn’t mean it has less love and light in it.
On the cover this year we are proud to introduce Nazanine, our very own TEDx Monte Carlo queen. I remember meeting Nazanine many moons ago at a private garden party in a villa perched on the hills above Monaco. I knew immediately that she was going to do great things. Charming and beautiful inside out, here is a woman who is actively trying to make a difference and encouraging us to tackle things head on.
